About the 120 Initiative Conference
In June of 2022, the Presidents of the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area supported a proposal to initiate the 120 Initiative, named in honor of the more than 120 people who die on average each day from gun homicide or suicide.
Since its launch, the Consortium has engaged more than 100 subject-matter experts across our 20 member institutions to identify practical and actionable approaches to reducing gun violence.
The 120 Initiative to Reduce Gun Violence Regional Conference features interactive plenary panels and breakout sessions in which more than a dozen of these experts will discuss their research-informed proposals to stem gun violence in our region.
