120 Initiative on Gun Violence Prevention

Gun violence, is an American public health crisis. More than 120 people die each day from suicide, homicide, mass shootings, and unintentional injuries. Many more suffer gunshot wounds and injuries affecting their families and community.

Consequently, the Consortium’s 120 Initiative includes experts from across our member institutions working together to identify the most practical solutions to reducing gun violence. The Initiative’s subject-matter experts represent a wide range of fields of research, such as public and mental health, online polarization, business sector engagement, communications, education, and technology, just to name a few.

Our region arguably has the widest variety of public, private, and government expertise in the world, and Consortium universities and colleges are established leaders at the intersection of research, practice, and policy. The 120 Initiative will collectively leverage that expertise to spur substantive progress.
