ARI-PAMU: Post-Doctoral Research Fellow (Ft. Belvoir, Virginia)
Consortium Research Fellow, U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences (ARI), Predictive Analytics & Modeling Unit (PAMU), Ft. Belvoir, VA.This Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will assist with identifying, developing, implementing/coding, and validating advanced statistical methods for using Army archival data (and other data sources such as from federal statistics bureaus) to help assess and predict key individual and group-level outcomes (such as attrition and performance). Ideal candidates will have the described experience and exhibit the following skills:
Supervised and unsupervised learning techniques for high-N or high-dimensional data
Natural Language Processing (NLP)
Scalable data analysis techniques (with a preference for scalable Bayesian techniques)
Bayesian non-parametric models
Psychometrics and measurement
- Longitudinal data analysis methods (e.g., state-space models, survival analysis/multi-state models)
Managing and working with large data sets (e.g., hundreds of thousands to millions of rows, thousands of variables, knowledge of SQL not required)
Familiarity with at least one major platform for statistical computing (e.g., R, Python, Julia), and the ability to code effectively
The ability to communicate (e.g., their models and findings/implications) to peers and to non-experts
Annual salary is based on the salary for a GS-12 Step 1 researcher in the Washington Metropolitan Area.
